Blue and Gold Banquet

Today Ethan had his Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts.  He earned his Bear patch and he will soon be on to becoming a Webelo.  The theme this year was "100th Birthday Celebration of Scouting".  Wow...a hundred years.  That's awesome!
There is a cake contest every year.  I'm not one to decorate a cake, it's just not my thing.  Instead we go for the best tasting.  Ethan helped make the cake; a Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake.  I made this cake for the first time days before for my hubby's birthday, it was gone by the next morning so I thought this might have a chance of winning.  Last year at the Blue and Gold Eric helped Ethan make his cake (check out last years recipe) and he won to my surprise and again this year he won! Yippee! What a big smile on his face when they called his name.  It was worth every crumb that was all over the counter and floor while he made it.    

A New Favorite!

I recently purchased Sweet Grass Farm Linen&Room Spray along with a bottle of their dusting oil and I'm Loving them!  My favorite smell is Lavender, which made for an easy decision (something that never comes easy for me) to buy them.   I've been spraying my bedroom before bed, dusting my pillows and blankets....helps me to relax (another thing that doesn't come easy for me). And, for the polish......put it this way, I've been dusting way more often! What I love the most is they use REAL essential oils not perfumes, to me there is nothing worse then those fake perfumey smells.  Well, I'm off to spray the house!

Happy Birthday to My One and Only.......

Happy Birthday Eric! 

Eric and I have been together for 21 years and married for 13. It's amazing to think of all the birthday's that we've celebrated together. Most with Family, an occasional wrong gift (a fancy watch I got him for his 25th birthday, he totally hated it! He was too nice to come out and say it but I could tell, so we exchanged it for a less fancy one) and he's always polite when he receives golf balls every year!
He always reminds me that Birthday's are for kids and I say "that's why you like them so much?!?!" I think his favorite thing is the cake (his weakness). Eric tries to eat healthy by skipping the cakes, cookies and ice-cream but for his birthday he actually eats it right up (except for the ice-cream). Speaking of Cake....... I guess I should go makeone!

Valentine's around the house

I've been such a bad blogger lately, too many things to do.  The kids are on vacation this week which makes me happy....I can sleep in a little and there won't be much rushing around.  I missed last weeks "All About Me" but I'll post it later tonight for tomorrow!  I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day!

or at least I'm trying to get it in the air with a little decorating!

I saw a heart garland somewhere in the blogging world a week or two ago and thought,"I can do that!".  I had the felt from last year when I was going to try and make something and never did.  Anyway, this was an easy and fun way to be creative for just a short time.  I cut my hearts out by hand, just eying it (I don't mind the imperfections, I'm not perfect so why should my hearts be).  I decided that I wanted to add a little something to some of them, so I thought buttons and paper would work fine.  I think it came out pretty cute.

My  (I mean "our" ) glider, I love this chair so much.  It was a gift from my parents when my first was born (almost 9 years ago).  It's rock solid after hours and hours of rocking.
